Aftercare Services

A drug and/or alcohol aftercare program is necessary for the process of recovery to be effective. The addiction doesn't just go away when the patient completes their drug rehab program. The aftercare program is established to help keep your disease in remission and to stay in recovery. Unity Recovery Center continues to monitor and supervise each aftercare individual, determining if they are on the correct path toward their recovery or if they require more attention. When coming to the point of independence and closer to full recovery, it is important that each patient fully recognizes their priorities once given that freedom back.

Relapse and continued abuse can be the riskiest during the first few months immediately following a drug or alcohol treatment program and the temptations can seem overwhelming for those trying to recover. Sobriety is difficult for even the most committed to their recovery program and entering “the real world” again can be a lot harder than one anticipated, especially when they are no longer being monitored or shielded from outside addiction triggers. Our patients are encouraged to participate in the many aftercare programs we offer, which may include therapy sessions or quarterly renewal retreats at Unity Recovery Center itself. We also offer monthly follow up and conference calls for all of our patients, regardless of location. By committing to these aftercare phone calls, therapy sessions and retreats, patients can better tackle the risks involved in his or her sobriety as they emerge themselves back into the real world.

Unity Recovery Center is dedicated to helping its patients cope with the challenges that await them upon completion of rehab. We understand it will take a large amount of commitment, but success and sobriety can be achieved as well as maintained. Our goal is to support our Unity alumni for their entire lives, not just immediately after their treatment program is complete. We will do our best to assist with finding halfway houses around the country, no matter where are former patients are located, as well as provide ongoing therapy via weekly continued care programs and outpatient services, should our patients ever fear a relapse.

So what is the best type of aftercare program to enter into after drug or alcohol treatment? After leaving our facility it is really a personal decision left up to the patient himself. The best choice for recovery may be contingent on how severe a patient’s addiction was or what kinds of triggers are located in the environment the patient resides in. Depending on a patient’s home situation, it may sometimes be easier to avoid triggering situations by choosing sober living. However, if a patient has supportive family members or roommates at home and a deep level of commitment to their recovery, this may not be as much of an issue and regular conference calls and check-ins will be enough to sustain sobriety.
