Drug Addiction

Drug addiction refers to any condition that results in the excessive consumption of substances beverages despite the health, emotional, psychological and negative social consequences it causes. Drug addiction, is a disease which results as a direct consequence of drug abuse.

Rehab Centers of Florida, along with most treatment programs believe that drug addiction is treatable but NOT curable. The thought behind this theory is that drug addiction is an incurable disease and that addicts need lifelong treatment to avoid relapse with the 12 step program an important cornerstone of relapse prevention.

Some programs believe that addiction is curable, however, research and success rates suggest that , while there are exceptions, addiction is, in fact, a disease and that the greatest chance for sustainable recovery is by enrolling in a treatment program that has adopted the disease model.

Drug addiction is not something to easily dismiss. Most addicts make the mistake of thinking  "I can quit when I want". Drug addiction has a lifetime recovery process. Drug addiction affects not only the individual but everyone around the individual. If you or a loved one are suffering from drug addiction, there is no "magic pill" to stop the dependency. Don't be fooled - the only way to successful and sustained recovery is through a drug addiction treatment center.

Drug Addiction Relapse

Knowing that the pressures of life can be overwhelming to a recovering addict is an important part in our system of relapse prevention. These pressures must be kept in mind when dealing with a patient that has struggled with dependency and has a true desire to help himself. Rehab Centers of Florida has created a system of re-entry that does not offer a systematic reprimand to the patient. In other words a patient that is relapsing is not required to take on our program from the very start, but is encouraged to come to us for evaluation regarding the seriousness of the relapse and also to be evaluated by our professionals. This must happen in order to uncover the patient’s depth of desire for recovery.

Rehab Centers of Florida uses a multi-disciplinary approach when making decisions regarding re-entry for all patients. This information is shared openly with the patient’s family so everyone involved has a full understanding of the situation at hand. Our multi-disciplinary team then meets for a discussion on the relapsing patient in question, and a decision is made as to where it would be most beneficial to the patient for re-entry into the recovery program. Once the patient is placed, the system takes over and we start to build upon the knowledge and experience of the relapsing patient. Our facility and all of our staff are dedicated to the patient with the knowledge that we are in this predicament together to the end and ultimately your sobering success.

Drug Addiction Psychosis

The meaning of psychosis is dealing with a severe mental derangement, which ultimately is the loss of reality. Through the treatment planning at Rehab Centers of Florida we evaluate each patients mental and physical condition, to determine what steps are needed to take the patent in the right direction towards recovery. When drug psychosis is involved the process to help heal addiction is dealt with in a different manner, including certain medications and medical and psychological support.
