Dual Diagnosis Program
When someone is suffering from addiction, it affects both the body and mind concurrently. Many individuals are suffering from addiction as a result of pre-existing psychiatric conditions. This is called a dual diagnosis case. More often than not, the pre-existing condition is directly related to the addiction.
Dual diagnosis is complicated because of the concurrent psychiatric disorders and physical and emotional addictive issues. Many individuals are reluctant to discuss the surrounding psychiatric disorders, which is a hindrance to treatment and recovery. Our dual diagnosis treatment program understand the sensitivity and empathy needed to successfully treat dual diagnosis.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
While there are general guidelines and structure to treatment programs, the truth is that treatment is most successful when a program treats the individual not the disease. Each individual and their accompanying addiction require personalized treatment, depending on their situation. This is never more applicable than in the case of dual diagnosis. Whether you're suffering from bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, depression, the best form of treatment is a customized treatment plan that treats both the addiction and the relevant psychiatric conditions. Furtherrmore, customized relapse therapy and aftercare programs are required for dual diagnosis.
Peer Recovery
As we all grew up we were faced with new experiences in life. Romance, disagreements and many other aspects of life caused each of us to seek out an experienced elder for advice. Why did we do this? Because even at a very early age we knew the values of experience. These experiences in life are major factors in how we all react to certain situations. Experiential therapy is a concept based on the personal experiences of our professionals and fellow recovering patients at Rehab Centers of Florida. Not only do the experiences of our therapists count, but every experience that can benefit a recovering patient is highly valued and has merit. During our group meetings our patients are encouraged to share their experiences, as one can never under-estimate the value in the sharing of positive information. There is no better instructor in life than experience.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder, which has many names including manic-depressive disorder, is estimated to effect more than 17.4 million adults each year. Both men and women can develop this disorder usually occurring in their late twenties. A person with this ]condition experiences episodes of mania followed quickly by depression. These aren’t the normal periods of highs and lows that most experience periodically, instead, they are intense and severe mood swings. The good news is that bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this disability can lead happy and productive lives.
